MVC Wins Bronze at 16U Provincials
En route to the bronze medal game, MVC opened with a 25-18, 25-16 loss to Burlington Defensa and then dropped 25-14, 25-18 to the Aurora Storm Vortex. MVC got into the win column beating Etobicoke Titans Black, 25-15, 25-22, but the Phoenix ’99 from Toronto took a three-set win from Hamilton, 25-18, 12-25, 5-15. Leaside Lightning from Toronto downed MVC, 16-15, 12-25, and St. Catharines Forest City Green was victorious, 25-17, 25-11.
Once MVC got into the Tier 2 round of 16, their fortunes changed. Hamilton put together a pair of wins, first beating Northern Chill from Hanmer, 25-17, 25,10, and then Cobourg’s NBVC Yellow, 25-21, 25-17. The E381 Blue from Etobicoke stalled MVC in the Tier 2 semi-finals in three games, 25-20, 23-25, 11-15, sending Hamilton to the bronze medal final. There MVC took North Bay’s Vision Volleyball, 22-25, 26-24, 11-15 to win a bronze.
